Just When You Thought It Was Safe
I was cruising around and ran into someone that had the video below in their blog. Man, I was pretty shocked. What is next? The world Tic-Tac-Toe championships?
Being A Man
I really wonder some days what has happened to this world. I see people on television looking for handouts from the government. I see men say proudly that they support their kids. That is what you are suppose to do. It is nothing to brag about. I see people using profanity as if it were no big deal, and around their kids. I see "adults" having tantrums over a game of cards on the internet. I just don't get it. There was a time when people took pride in themselves. There was a time when men would do whatever it took to keep from accepting charity. There use to be a time when men were men.
Free Credit Ripoff Dot Com
Yea, it is a ripoff. Why is it a ripoff? It is the difference between "opt in" and "opt out". I am familiar with these terms because in the past I have had training with regard to this. Some companies use an "opt in" approach where you basically have to sign up for something specifically to receive it, while the other approach is highly unethical. Basically in an "opt out" approach, a company gets you to sign up for something which has strings attached. If you don't specifically "opt out" for something, suddenly you are billed for it. Yes, you read that right. You have to say please don't screw me or you will get screwed. That is the approach of Free Credit Report Dot Com. Yes, you get screwed by the company that is suppose to be there to keep people from screwing you.
Death
A friend of mine recently lost a pet. She blogged about it and I could feel the emotions that she is going through. If you have never been close to a pet, you can't really understand how important the become to you. These days it is Scooby and I against the world. I coun't on him and he counts on me. Death has become a recurring them in my life these days and I have been trying to learn to cope. I have good weeks and sometimes think I am doing fine, until the next bad week arrives. Something keeps telling me there has to be more to life than waiting on death. I suppose I am searching for a purpose.
Contribution
Alfred Adler did say that the meaning of life is contribution and I do believe that is true. I do think there is a reason for Christmas. It will be my opportunity to contribute. I just need to figure out how. Yea, I will spend money on family. I will throw a yuppie food stamp into some pots. But I really think I want to find something special to do this seson. I just need to figure out what. One of my favorite memories of last Christmas was when I bought 20 one dollar tickets in a turkey raffle. You should have seen the kids faces. I bet there aren't many people will to spend $20 for a chance to win a $14 turkey:)
My Cousin
Earlier this year my cousing died. I don't know his exact age, but I believe he was 29. He has a kid whom my uncle and aunt are now trying to raise. My cousin is the young guy in the photo below. He is with his parents and sister. His name was Robbie and he was one of the most mild mannered humble people you would ever want to meet. I do think I am going to have to find a way to help these folks with Robbie's kid. This entire family has issue beyond their control and somehow I must find a way to help. I know I can't fix the world, but it doesn't stop me from trying.
Sorry for the rambling blog. I am just dealing with insomnia again and needed to think about some stuff.
Take Care,
Steve

"I wanted to see Detroit win. I've been there. It's like God took a (crap) on a parking lot. They deserve some good news."
